East Mids workers to score Rugby flexi-time
Almost 40 per cent of bosses in the East Midlands said they will accommodate flexi-time requests to allow employees to watch the upcoming World Cup.
According to Close Invoice Finance's latest Business Barometer, heads of businesses in the East Midlands are the second most likely in the UK to allow employees time off for the tournament.
Second only to 54 per cent of bosses in the South West, 39.6 per cent of those in the East Midlands said they would accommodate flexible working hours. This compares to a UK national average of 32 per cent.
Businesses in Scotland were the least likely to allow employees time off for the tournament, with just one in five saying they would consider the measure.
Ian Steward, local head of Close Invoice Finance said: "With matches due to be shown in the early hours of the morning and at start of the working day, bosses would be forgiven for worrying about distracted or tired staff.
"However, it seems companies are taking a proactive approach to handling big sporting events, allowing staff to come in a little later or finish earlier."
The 2011 Rugby World Cup takes place from 9 September to 23 October.
