CI Logistics drives Honda production line
Leicester-based CI Logistics has installed an inverted monorail conveyor for Honda’s UK manufacturing plant in Swindon.
Storage system supplier CI Logistics created and fitted the machine for car manufacturer Honda's dashboard sub assembly line.
It has been designed to transport new Honda Civic dashboards around a 20-station line in Honda's Car Plant Two sector.
More than 3,500 people work at Honda’s manufacturing site in Swindon, with each shift building 300 cars destined for the UK and Europe.
Neil Adams a new model project engineer at Honda, said: "CI Logistics also developed the software controls for the system. Every assembly line is sequenced so as each finished dashboard comes off the line it is immediately transferred across a short gangway to the main assembly line.
"Here it is fitted into a car body which is exactly in position to receive the dashboard. Working in this systematic way, a new Honda car is produced every 85 seconds."
