Profit on the rise at Headlam
Pre-tax profits have increased more than 17 per cent at Birmingham floorcovering specialist Headlam, it was revealed this morning.
In its results for the six months to 30 June, the company said profit before tax stood at £9.9m, compared with £8.4m in the comparable 2010 period.
The company attributed the rise in part to continual product development and strong marketing activity.
Revenue was up 5.5 per cent to £269m for the six-month period. UK revenues increased by 7.4 per cent on a like-for-like basis
Headlam was buoyed by strong UK sales, but said results were dampened slightly by a slower Swiss market. Revenues from the company's France and Netherlands bases were "fairly stable", said the company.
Tony Brewer, Headlam's group chief executive, said: "The individual autonomous businesses have succeeded in producing a strong performance in the first half, in what are generally considered to be challenging market conditions.
"This has been achieved through a constant programme of product development, combined with sales and marketing activities, with support from a comprehensive logistics service."
