Robinson builds on Derby campus scheme
Derby-based Robinson Steel Structures has started work on the next phase of its £34m construction of a school campus in the city.
Steelwork specialist Robinson was contracted by Balfour Beatty Construction to design, fabricate and build a 1,200-tonne steelwork structure and metal decking for the site.
It will house Noel-Baker Community School and St Martin's Special School once completed.
Robinson will install the steelwork structure and metal decking and will supply precast flooring units and stairways for the campus.
The company has completed the steelwork for the two- and three-storey main building which incorporates three atrium areas. It has now begun work on the steel structure of a separate two-storey building which will accommodate vocational courses and a new sports centre.
The campus will be open in September 2012, said Robinson.
