Peter Williams has been appointed as interim chairman and non-executive director of Blacks Leisure.

Williams will take the helm at the Northampton-based retailer after former chairman David Bernstein announced his resignation on 3 August. He will take on the role while a permanent replacement is sought.

Williams has worked for Blacks Leisure in an advisory capacity for several months. For 13 years, he worked for retail giant Selfridges, initially as chief financial officer then as chief executive.

He is currently a director of a number of consumer facing businesses, including chairman of Erno Laszlo Group, senior independent director of online retailer ASOS and Sportech; and a non-executive director of Cineworld Group and Silverstone Holdings.
