LEP uses cash to fund apprentice

A total of £200,000 in start-up funding has been won by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) from the government, it has announced.

The CWLEP said it was given all of the funding it applied for from the government's £5m LEP start-up.

The LEP said it is now planning to take on an apprentice to support the two staff members who run the LEP.

Denys Shortt, chairman of CWLEP, said: "We are mounting a drive to encourage businesses to take on an apprentice – so we are practicing what we preach.

"There is an enormous amount of work which goes into the LEP and a talented, local young person will be a great help."

The LEP said the recruit will work on its new web portal which will also be developed with the funding.
