Hodson departs from London Midland
The managing director of Birmingham-headquartered London Midland is retiring after 37 years in the railway industry.
David Brown, chief executive of London Midland parent company Go-Ahead Group, said: "Mike has had an extraordinary career in the railways industry. Having joined British Rail through their graduate scheme, he worked his way to the top of his profession.
"While his full list of achievements are too long to list, particular highlights include the development and introduction of the high speed commuter services on HS1 and delivering a range of reforms and investment on London Midland."
Hodson added: "I have hugely enjoyed my time at Go-Ahead and in the wider rail industry. I have always appreciated Go-Ahead's devolved approach and had the pleasure of working with some excellent people along the way.
"It has been a truly interesting and challenging career, but after over 37 years in the industry, I feel that now is the right time to retire. The rail industry has some big challenges ahead, but I know that the people who keep the industry going day after day are more than up to meeting them."
