Something for the weekend
Eversheds is the flavour of the month
When staff at Eversheds in Nottingham wanted a bit of flavour in their food – they hit the wall! The company has created a 'living wall' at its offices in Standard Hill, Nottingham – offering a mix of herbs which end up in dishes at its in house café or picked for home cooking. It is one of a number of initiatives launched by the law firm to encourage staff to think about the environment. Senior partner James Fry said: "This is a fantastic scheme and we are very excited at the prospect of using our new bikes to get around town. We have many local clients all within cycling distance so will be looking forward to hopping into the saddle to visit them. As well as being great for the environment, we are all looking forward to being healthier!"
In the club
World number two golfer Lee Westwood made a flying visit to Derbyshire golf complex Morley Hayes this week to put budding young golfers through their paces at a special golf academy. Lee arrived at Morley Hayes by helicopter and spent the afternoon giving a master class in the sport to local children aged between seven and 16. Andrew Allsop, managing director at Morley Hayes, said: "This is the third year that we have been selected to host the Lee Westwood Golf Academy – to be the only Derbyshire venue to host the event is a tremendous honour." We bet some of those seven-year-olds could thrash us.
Going underground
To a round table sponsored by Bibby Financial Services, but held at Smith Cooper's swish news offices in Nottingham city centre this week. Jim Davis and Sharon Wiltshire were a few minutes late arriving. Explaining that they'd spent a good half hour driving around Nottingham city centre, they also revealed they couldn't find their way out of Smith Cooper’s underground car park. Time to buy a compass, perhaps.
