St Peter's Quarter granted BID status

Businesses in Derby's St Peter's Quarter have voted in favour of establishing the area as the city's second Business Improvement District (BID).

Seventy-one per cent of voters supported the BID business plan which will impinge on more than 500 commercial businesses when it comes into effect.

The St Peter’s Quarter's aim is to create an alternative shopping, leisure and commercial area to Westfield and the Cathedral Quarter.

The BID proposal is the beginning of a five-year plan to improve the area.

Stephen Jeffery, chairman of the BID scheme, said: "There has been a lot of 'foot slogging' around the area to ensure that the business community has been kept up to date on developments.

"It has been inspiring to see how many businesses, large and small and ranging from retail to professional firms, have given their time to promote this important initiative."

The St Peter’s Quarter BID area is the commercial centre of the city between Westfield and the Cathedral Quarter.
