Norbert Dentressangle, which has its UK headquarters in Northampton, has renewed a management contract with supermarket giant Asda for five years.

Logistics giant Norbert Dentressangle will have responsibility for eight Asda Service Centres (ASCs), which contain the bulk of the supermarket's recycling operations.

The five-year contract deal extends the decade-long relationship between the two companies.

The supermarket's ASC network handles returnable transit packaging, card, plastic, food waste and returned goods from more than 400 Asda stores throughout the UK.

Asda’s distribution director, Ian Stansfield, said: "This new five-year agreement with Norbert Dentressangle demonstrates our continued ambition to be environmentally sustainable across Distribution and the wider business.

"Norbert Dentressangle has partnered ASDA in our ASC operations since 2002 and have helped us to reduce our operating cost at the same time as supporting our sustainable aspirations."

Following Asda’s recent integration of 147 Netto stores, it is anticipated that volumes through the ASC network will increase by five to ten per cent.
