Business law firm DWF has opened an office in Birmingham. The firm has appointed Joanne Davis as the office partner.

The Birmingham office will expand the firm’s asset finance practice and provide a new lender service.

Managing partner Andrew Leaitherland said: "Birmingham has long since been a strategic target for the firm to ensure we are based exactly where our clients need us.

"The city also has a great talent pool of lawyers, many with the expertise and knowledge of the market sectors in which we specialise and aim to develop in the future."

Davis, previously head of asset finance at rival firm Shoosmiths, will lead and develop the asset finance and regulatory practice in Birmingham.

She has 18 years’ experience in the field, with clients from financial institution and asset, and the motor finance sectors.

DWF's move into Birmingham follows a year in which the firm increased turnover by 15 per cent to £83m and saw net profits rise 35 per cent to £12m.

The firm also has offices in London, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds and employs about 1,300 people.
