Carillion on track with Canada contract
Carillion has been awarded a £123m contract to build Vaughan Corporate Centre Station by the Toronto Transit Commission.
The project is part of the Toronto to York Spadina Subway Extension project - an 8.6km subway line extension.
Vaughan Corporate Centre Station will be the anchor to the extension and Wolverhampton-based Carillion was recently awarded a £360m construction management contract for the "revitalisation" of Toronto's Union Station at the other end of the line.
John McDonough, Carillion chief executive, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this major new contract, which reflects the reputation of Carillion Canada for quality and delivery.
"We look forward to working with the Toronto Transit Commission to deliver this important new multi-modal transport hub."
The two-level underground station will be built primarily from reinforced concrete with skylights to allow in natural daylight.
Construction is expected to start this summer and complete in autumn 2014.
