Abel acquired by rival
Chesterfield-based Abel Demountable Systems has been snapped up by rival Wheelbase Holdings in a trade sale.
Abel is a designer and manufacturer of demountable equipment, drawbar trailers and bodywork. Its customers include Wincanton Distribution, Hanson Group, John Lewis, Polypipe and Bensons for Beds.
Abel's shareholders were advised Castle Square Corporate Finance on their exit. Castle Square identified potential buyers and ran an auction process from which North West-based Wheelbase emerged as the preferred bidder.
The Castle Square team was led by Kevan Shaw, who said: "Castle Square are delighted to have acted on this transaction, which secures a successful exit for the shareholders of Abel Demountables but also ensures the future success of the company in the hands of Wheelbase, for whom the purchase is an excellent strategic fit."
