Senior appointment at KPMG Birmingham

KPMG in Birmingham has appointed Andy Argyle to lead its regional public sector division.

Argyle has been a partner with the firm since 1999, during which time he led several divisions including the local transaction services practice.

He joined the public sector team 18 months ago to focus on the health and education sector.

Argyle said: "The public sector is undergoing considerable change. The need to make savings through efficiencies has been on the agenda for some time and with the austerity measures now coming into force, this is becoming increasingly important.

"As public sector bodies develop their strategies, it is likely that we will see the lines between public and private sector begin to blur as outsourcing, partnerships and joint ventures become increasingly more commonplace."

Sue Cordon also joins the public sector audit team as a senior manager. She has 25 years' experience in the field, including a 14-year stint at the Audit Commission as its NHS performance lead for the East Midlands.
