Howley swoops for Belpac
Belpac, the Wolverhampton-based packaging manufacturer, has become an independent company after being bought by West Midlands businessman Kevan Howley.
Belpac was bought by Birmingham-based finance company The Shilling Group in June this year for an undisclosed sum.
Before its sale, the company spent more than 20 years as a subsidiary of a parent group "with different core business and market focus", said Howley.
Howley, the company's new chairman, also said he had begun negotiations to purchase additional property to house the growing business.
Belpac is now aiming to become the number one UK tier-two packaging company.
"Beyond the few huge tier-1 packaging companies who churn out prodigious quantities of packaging from their high fixed cost bases, the packaging sector is fragmented and many are struggling," said Howley.
"We see great opportunities for profitable growth through sector consolidation, closer engagement in just-in-time supply chains, and broadening our range of products and services to the client base."
Now the sale has completed, Belpac will be managed by Howley and managing director Ian Blunt.
The company employs about 50 people in the West Midlands.
