The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Company has secured £70,000 in banking facilities after switching services to HSBC. The company said it wanted to grow its online operation after obtaining the funds.

The Derbyshire company employs 35 staff and has an annual turnover of £1.3m. It produces Bakewell puddings and a range of chutneys, jams and real ales.

A £70,000 banking facility was put in place after the company switched its banking to HSBC.

Additional investment will enable the company to improve its shop and restaurant, it said. Old Original Bakewell Pudding Company recently moved its bakery off-site to increase production and the number of local businesses it supplies.

The company added that it also hopes to grow its online operation.

Mark Vines, HSBC’s regional commercial director, Yorkshire and the North East said: "We’re delighted to be providing all the banking for the Old Original Bakewell Pudding Company.

"Combining traditional recipes that have been around for hundreds of years with a forward-looking business plan and a growing online presence, the business is a perfect example of how a traditional and long-standing business can be continually modernised for success in the current business environment."
