Weedon Holdings seals Rowpak deal

Share | |

Staffordshire-based Weedon Holdings said it expects to double turnover after acquiring corrugated packaging manufacturer Rowpak Containers. The packaging company saved almost 100 jobs when it bought under-performing Rowpak.

The holding company acquired the Manchester-based manufacturer, which now operates as Weedon Corrugated Products, for an undisclosed sum.

Birmingham law firm The Wilkes Partnership advised Weedon Holdings on the deal.

Gareth O’Hara, partner in the corporate team at The Wilkes Partnership, said: "Rowpak was an underperforming business, with 100 jobs under threat. As part of its new position in the Weedon Holdings Group all but a few of those jobs have been saved."

John Weedon, managing director of Weedon Holdings Group, added: "As Rowpak was based in Manchester, this move gives us a springboard into the north of England.

"Our customers will now be able to draw upon a much wider range of facilities and resources as the acquisition gives us strategic support for sheet supply and allows us to offer an end-to-end solution for customers."
