Experian enters Brazilian market
Experian, the Nottingham-based data analyst, has acquired Virid Interatividade Digital, a Brazil-based email marketing company.
Experian said the acquisition was a further step in its strategy to expand its digital marketing activities globally. Brazil was a "key" market for the Nottingham company to exploit, it said.
The data company already has a presence in the US, UK, Germany, France and China.
Virid was acquired from its founding shareholder and management and will form part of Experian's marketing services activities in Latin America.
Founded in 1996, Virid is one of Brazil's largest email service providers, offering email delivery, email based behavioural segmentation, real-time campaign reporting, mobile delivery and social media integration. The company has more than 800 direct and 3,000 indirect clients including retailers, advertising agencies and news organisations.
For the year ending 31 December 2010, revenue for Virid was US$5m (£3m). Gross assets as at 31 December 2010 were $1m (£614,000).
The acquisition has been funded from Experian's existing cash resources.
