QS Group recruits budget manager
Fashion retailer QS Group has appointed chartered surveyor Johnson Fellows as budget manager for its chain of more than 300 shops. The news comes after the Solihull-based company announced it would open a further 50 stores in 2011.
QS Group comprises more than 200 Twenty One boutiques and a chain of QS outlets.
Birmingham-based Johnson Fellows will handle the portfolio after the budget management team assisted with service charge savings.
Colin Whelan, head of Johnson Fellows' rating department, said: "In the current tough economic climate it makes sense for retailers to make savings on their costs wherever they can. Many consider cutting back on staff or even closing stores, but do not explore the possibility of making savings on service charges.
"Many thousands of pounds each year can be cut from their costs by challenging those that do not comply with the terms of the lease so it is an area that is definitely worth investigating, particularly for retailers with large portfolios such as the QS Group."
QS Group recently announced plans to expand with 30 new stores having opened in the last year and a further 50 planned in 2011.
