Squire Sanders Hammonds acts on Spanish deal
Squire Sanders Hammonds in Birmingham has advised a Spanish company on the acquisition of waste recycling business Cutts Recycling.
The law firm acted for Spanish-owned international packaging company SAICA on its purchase of the Yorkshire-based waste recovery business.
SAICA employs more than 8,000 people in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and the UK. It specialises the production of corrugated paper from recovered paper and cardboard packaging.
Cutts Recycling manages waste recovery for all types of recyclable materials through its two recovery centres in Doncaster and Sheffield.
SAICA said the deal waspart of its strategy to become to "an integrated player" in the UK and follows the acquisition in November of Futur, the Wiltshire-based waste management business.
The Squire Sanders Hammonds team was led by corporate partner Peter McLintock and associate Ryan Hawley, with assistance from Conor Farrell. Andrew Sprake and Gina Rhodes provided property advice.
McLintock said: "SAICA is a long-standing client of the firm and we are pleased to be supporting the business’ exciting growth plans in the UK. The fact that we are advising SAICA out of our Birmingham office reinforces the fact that the West Midlands’ professional community can provide large multi-national organisations such as SAICA the complete service that they rightly expect."
