Something for the weekend

On the rocks

There are few finer things than spending the day at Trent Bridge watching the English thrash Sri Lanka in the company of Andy Cameron-Smith and Colin Muir from RBS. However, as manly as Colin and Andy are, we were perturbed to seeing them ordering white wine at the bar. White wine with ice. What next? Pina Coladas in the boardroom?

Hall or nothing

In other drinking news, one of the Insider team was at the Overbury drinks evening at All Bar One recently. It was another good turnout, but one key face was missing – that of Ken Nettleship, inward investment project manager at Invest in Nottingham. When asked where Ken was, we were told he was busy at Wollaton Hall being an extra in the next Batman film. The new Robin revealed!

Christmas cheer

The award for getting the first Christmas-themed press release to us goes to Sarah-Jenkin Jones, who sent us news about Derby's Roundhouse, which is to host a 'Cirque de Lumière' – Circus of Light - this December, along with a series of Christmas parties available for corporate or private bookings. "Eek - Christmas press release already!" squealed Sarah, clearly excited about receiving a new bike or dolls house from Santa this December. "Do I get the prize for the first mention of the 'c' word?" Yes, Sarah, you do. The prize is a mention on today's newsletter.
