Savoy Cinemas eyes up investment
A new six-screen cinema complex is being developed in Worksop following a £3m funding boost from Barclays Corporate.
The site is being established by Savoy Cinemas, which has also converted a Co-op store in Boston, Lincolnshire, into a five-screen multiplex.
James Collington bought the Lenton cinema in 1994 and restored it.
He said: "We identified a gap in the market for people in Worksop who enjoy going to the cinema. Currently, they would have to travel to Sheffield, Chesterfield or Doncaster to watch new films. We will also be creating around 20 new jobs which is good news for the local community."
Robert Pick, relationship director at Barclays Corporate, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to support Savoy Cinemas with their expansion plan and to be investing in the local leisure sector, here in Worksop."
The six-screen cinema will comprise more than 900 seats and include 3D technology, digital projection and sound. It is due to open in February 2012.
