Enterprise zone bid backed in Warwick
The creation of an enterprise zone near Coventry Airport and the Toll Bar Island has been unanimously supported by Warwick District Council.
Councillors agreed to back the bid which had been put forward by the region's LEP, as the deadline for submitting enterprise zone applications was reached yesterday (30 June).
Proposals have now been submitted for an enterprise zone which will create up to 14,000 jobs and work to improve the Toll Bar Island.
Councillor Michael Doody, leader of Warwick District Council, said: "I am delighted that councillors and colleagues are supportive of the bid and see this as a great opportunity for the Coventry and Warwickshire economy. We wish the LEP the best of look with their bid and look forward to the results."
Successful bids for enterprise zones will receive benefits including exemption from business rates for five years and a simplified planning system.
