iCon opens doors to first tenants

Share | |

The first tenants have moved into Daventry's 'low-carbon' iCon building. Luxembourg company Demeuria World has become one of the first to open up inside the 55-unit building.

Demeuria World, which specialises in providing sustainable eco wood frame houses, has set up its first UK base in the iCon.

Owned and operated by The University of Northampton, the iCon building will be home to up to 55 small and growing businesses specialising in green technologies and sustainable construction.

Alongside the office space, the centre also provides conference facilities, networking space and business support and advice.

The iCon has been designed to support the natural temperature regulation of the building and limit the need for heating or air conditioning.

Tim Bagshaw, head of the iCon partner Investment at Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, said: "In Northamptonshire, we are committed to supporting and developing low carbon expertise and The iCon is a vital part of this. The county is experiencing the fastest levels of housing and population growth in the UK outside of London and there is a real opportunity for construction to be done in a sustainable way."
