National Express drives revenue growth

Share | |

Birmingham-based coach operator National Express said it remains on course to significantly improve its financial performance in 2011 after margins improved across all businesses.

In a statement to the Stock Exchange this morning, the company said it had experienced revenue growth across all five divisions in the first half of 2011. New contracts had also been secured in North America and Spain.

Dean Finch, group chief executive, said: "Building on our encouraging revenue growth in the first half year, I expect National Express to deliver a significant improvement in financial performance this year, in line with current market expectations. Continued cost control has been increasingly supported by organic growth and targeted bid success.

"We are well placed to deliver industry leading margins, leverage further growth opportunities and explore additional value-creating possibilities."

Both the Spanish and UK rail divisions grew passenger revenue in the first half year by 7 per cent.
