Welbeck Abbey drinks to new venture
Welbeck Abbey, near Worksop, has joined forces with real ale specialist Kelham Island Brewery to create a microbrewery on its site.
The joint venture has created a line of beers to sell at the Nottinghamshire country estate, which is set to complement its existing range of breads, cheeses and meats.
Welbeck Abbey Brewery will be managed by David Wickett, from Sheffield-based Kelham Island.
The Sheffield office of solicitors Taylor & Emmet advised on the deal.
John Hawkins, of Taylor & Emmet, said: "Following detailed negotiations to finalise the terms of the lease, I am extremely pleased that Peter Crawford and I have been able to facilitate this exciting new joint venture.
"I have no doubt that the experience of Kelham Island’s managing director, David Wickett, will ensure the new microbrewery plays an important role in Welbeck Abbey’s future. It has been a pleasure to work with him on this matter and we have enjoyed raising a glass of house beer to toast its future success."
