Freeth Cartwright poaches Gateley lawyer
Law firm Freeth Cartwright has appointed Mushtaq Khan to head up its Birmingham-based social housing practice.
Khan joins from rival city firm Gateley, where he led the social housing management litigation team.
He has more than a decade of experience in the region, advising housing associations, arms length management organisations and local authorities on housing and asset management issues.
He is currently a board director of Loughborough-based Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing as well as a member of the Social Housing Law Association and a council member of Birmingham Law Society.
Freeth Cartwright's Birmingham managing partner Richard Beverley said: "Mushtaq's appointment comes at a time when the social housing sector is facing significant economic and legislative challenges, not least the cuts in Government spending, reduced grants, changes to housing benefits and the restructuring of rents.
"These obstacles are unlikely to decrease over the short to medium term, which is why it is crucial that, as a firm, we invest in the right balance of skills and experience to support our clients."
