Tongue untwisted with law firm change

West Midlands law firm Harris Cooper Brownings is changing its name to avoid it becoming a "tongue twister".

The firm, which styles itself as "acquisition-minded", is changing its name to HCB Solicitors. It currently has more than 60 members of staff at its branches in Stratford upon Avon, Redditch, Solihull, Alcester and Harborne.

The move follows the business' acquisition of Sharrotts Solicitors in Lichfield. That part of the practice will in future be known as 'HCB Solicitors – Sharrotts'.

Mike Gahan, managing partner at the firm, said: "In future we will better known as HCB Solicitors with the name or location of the acquired company added.

"Sharrotts fits our portfolio well. We now have offices throughout the Midlands which offer teams of city-trained lawyers specialising in commercial law as well as family and civil matters.

“Our aim is to be able to deal with all legal matters through our experts but at costs that do not reflect big city fees."
