Hyslop to lead LEP

Maitland Hyslop, the managing director of Keele-based Internet Central, has been appointed chairman of the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP.

Hyslop was elected at the LEP's board meeting on Friday (10 June).

Prior to his managing director role at Goodwin subsidiary Internet Central, Hyslop had held senior positions in the NHS.

He also served as chief operating officer of the Onyx Group and managing director of Campbell Lee.

Hyslop was among the board's most recent recruits, having been elected alongside Kerry Diamond, Stephen Dixon, Ron Dougan and Sue Prince on 9 June.

They joined existing private and public sector representatives including Steve Burgin, the UK president of engineering Alstom, and Mohammed Pervez, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The LEP said it will also introduce a new board member representing the northern district and borough councils and one representing the higher education institutions.
