Saint-Gobain PAM invests £1.3m in site
Iron pipe supplier Saint-Gobain PAM is investing more than £1.3m in new production facilities at its headquarters near Ilkeston.
Upgrades will be made to the pipe finishing facility, to allow it to accommodate pipes of up to six-metres in length.
The investment marks the second phase of the company's growth plan. The first, completed in February this year, involved the full integration of the flange pipe processing plant and stockground, which Saint-Gobain PAM said will contribute "significantly" to reducing lead times in supplying fabricated pipes to customers.
The new cash boost into the site's production is expected to be completed in September this year.
Saint-Gobain PAM UK's managing director, Paul Minchin, said: "We are constantly seeking ways to optimise service to customers while removing unnecessary costs from the supply chain and this investment will help to achieve both of these aims.
"The improvements at the flange pipe plant will significantly reduce time from order to despatch, while using six-metre pipes for finishing to UK requirements will allow us to better meet customer need."
