St Peter's Quarter launches leisure BID scheme

Derby’s St Peter’s Quarter has launched a Business Improvement District (BID) plan. Businesses will vote on whether to establish the area as the city's second BID in July.

The proposal was launched at an event attended by more than 40 representatives of local businesses at St Peter’s Church.

The proposed St Peter's Quarter BID area is the commercial core of the city between Westfield and the Cathedral Quarter.

Developers of the bid said its primary aim is to regenerate the area "by providing an alternative and complimentary shopping, leisure and commercial area" to the city.

Activities will be focused under three project areas – promotion, improving the visitor experience and business growth and investment.

Visitors and businesses in the area have been asked for their views to be submitted by July, when it will be decided whether to establish the area officially as the city’s second BID.

For the BID launch to be successful, more than 50 per cent of the number of businesses and more than 50 per cent of the rateable value of the businesses must vote for the proposals.
