A buyer is being sought for the parent company of Lincolnshire-based C&G Concrete. FH Gilman & Co went bust blaming the impact of adverse weather conditions during the winter of 2010.

The administration of the business follows that of its Stamford-based subsidiary C&G Concrete, which employs 120 people, last month.

Ross Connock and Rob Lewis of PwC were appointed joint administrative receivers of FH Gilman & Co on 20 May 2011.

FH Gilman & Co has 122 employees, of which 75 are employed in West Wales producing aggregates, ready mixed concrete and asphalt for the construction industry, and 47 are employed in Stamford at its head office, plant hire and warehouse operations.

The business has been established for more than 50 years.

Ross Connock, joint administrative receiver and director at PwC, said: "FH Gilman & Co is a well known business within its local markets with a strong reputation for quality and service, which was making significant progress in terms of its performance.

"Our main priority now will be to continue to trade the business while we seek a sale of the business and assets. In looking to achieve a sale, it will be critical that we retain the ongoing support of both the employees and the suppliers to the business."
