The Great Gadsby

East Midlands Property DinnerThe mood was remarkably upbeat at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham. Despite the dowturn, a host of new names on the honours list highlighted the diversity and strength of commercial property in the region.

The awards were hosted by Chris Barrie of Red Dwarf fame and the nominated charity for the evening was CP Sport, for which an amazing £6,000 was raised, including proceeds from the auction.

Among the surprise winners of the evening were Heb, based in Nottingham, which fought off the challenge of more established rivals Nattress Giles and Innes England.

Trent Park Developments won Residential Developer of the Year for its River Crescent scheme and proved it is not all gloom and doom in the residential sector.

But the night really belonged to “the people’s developer” Peter Gadsby, who was genuinely moved after receiving the Special Achievement Award from his peers.

It was a great night for the former Derby County chief, as his company Miller Birch also took the Commercial Developer of the Year title.

The next year will be a tough one for our winners, and those shortlisted, but we’re already looking forward to the East Midlands Property Dinner 2009. See you there.
