Miller has spent the last three years in RBS's total capital finance and corporate portfolio management teams.

In his role at Finance Birmingham, Miller will be responsible for assisting businesses seeking funding and developing their applications for submission to the loan fund investment committee.

Miller said: "The work that Finance Birmingham is doing to support and develop successful companies in the city is already having an impact and becoming part of the team that is working to deliver this support is an exciting move for me.

"Having worked for HBOS Integrated Finance and Total Capital Finance, I am familiar with working with mid-corporate companies and look forward to putting this to good use at Finance Birmingham."

Finance Birmingham is responsible for administering the Birmingham City Council loan fund. Loans are available between £50,000 and £1,000,000 for successful companies that are seeking to expand and create jobs.

To date, the fund has supported 19 companies to a value of £4.1m.
