Martineau confirms merger talks
Birmingham law firm Martineau is in talks with London-based Sprecher Grier Halberstam to agree a potential merger.
The two firms have confirmed they are in merger talks, with Martineau saying they both "share a similar culture and a common commitment to delivering the highest quality service to clients".
A spokesperson for Martineau, which also operates an office in the City, added: "There is real synergy in the two offerings and the merged firm will have genuine strength in depth across all its practice areas."
Martineau employs 240 people in Birmingham, making it the city's second largest law firm. According to reports, the firm is keen to forge ahead with the merger to increase its London presence.
On a combined basis, the merged firm would rank number 75 in the UK, with a turnover of about £30m with upwards of 200 fee earners.
