Record breakers

Where’s Kriss Akabusi when you need him? Visitors to the new FHP Living estate agency office in West Bridgford could come face to face with the world’s largest door handle.

The metal door handle, which measures four metres, is thought to be the longest ever – and FHP Living is in touch with Guinness to find if it’s a world beater.

The handle, made by well known Nottingham designer and West Bridgford resident Philip Watts, is part of the eye catching design at the West Bridgford agency in Bridgford Road.

Steve Parker, head of residential sales at FHP Living West Bridgford, said: “One of team has looked to see what the record is and we believe our handle is longer. It would be great if FHP Living could break this record.

“The handle is causing quite a stir – as it’s really striking and at the front of the building. Visitors to the agency have commented on it – it’s quite a talking point!”

Spinning around

Out we went to the Inafishbowl Spring Awards on Wednesday. Expecting to be faced with a room packed with thrusting young entrepreneurs, we were shocked to see there seemed to be as many PR types there, as young up-and-comers.

We recoiled in horror as the PRs eagerly eyed up future prey. What a world we live in. In fact, we couldn’t get away from the world of PR on Wednesday, as one of the team was stood in the same queue at H&M as Gemini owner Dianne Allen. We didn’t see what she was buying, before you ask…

Sublime to ridiculous

… whilst at the same event, we got talking to Ellen Carroll, of Nellie PR. Ellen’s into her music, and regularly goes to wonderful Derbyshire micro-festival Indietracks. Talk turned to this year’s festival, and when asked if we’d see her there, Ellen’s face dropped as she said that the event coincided with one of her closest friends’ birthday, so she was going down to London on a girls’ night out to celebrate. She was still looking glum, so we enquired as to what she’d get up to down there. “We’re off to see Shaggy in concert. Not my choice,” she muttered, almost in tears. That’s just cruel.
