Concerns remain for Cadbury, say MPs
American food giant Kraft has been criticised by MPs who say they have "significant concerns" for Cadbury more than a year on from its multimillion-pound takeover takeover.
Kraft was criticised closing operations at its Bristol plant. The closure of the site came at a cost of 450 jobs.
In a report entitled Is Kraft Working for Cadbury? MPs described Kraft chief executive Irene Rosenfeld's refusal to give evidence for the report as "regrettably dismissive". The department for Business, Innovation and Skills' select committee said Rosenfeld's actions "steered close to a contempt of the House".
It was the third time Rosenfeld had turned down the opportunity to attend the hearing.
However, the committee said it was "encouraged" by Kraft's pledge to invest in the Cadbury brand.
The report stated: "Whilst Kraft did not extend its undertakings on jobs, the strong indication to us was that the extent of investment at Bournville and other sites would only make sense alongside retention of employment levels in the UK."
Kraft bought Cadbury in an £11.5bn takeover in March last year.
