Construction on the £24m Kettering Buccleuch Academy in Northamptonshire is now underway. Willmott Dixon is the contractor leading the development.

A new school building will be built, the existing sports hall refurbished and the English block will be converted into a sports pavilion.

Pre-construction works on the Weekley Glebe site has now finished and full construction works have started. Car parks and all-weather pitches will be built after the other school buildings on the site have been demolished.

Ed Reynolds, Willmott Dixon's operations director, said: "Willmott Dixon has proven experience in the construction of educational facilities across the country which is already being demonstrated here in Kettering, with the construction of the nearby Kettering Science Academy.

"Kettering Buccleuch Academy will strengthen the region’s offering of first-class teaching facilities to make it a true centre of education."

The Kettering Buccleuch Academy is due for completion in July 2012.
