AFI completes Foxes takeover

Leicester City Football Club have finally settled their long-running ownership saga after Asia Football Investments (AFI) took sole ownership of the club. AFI upped its share from 80 to 100 per cent after buying out minority shareholder Cronus Sports Management.

The new owners said they want to return the club to the Premier League.

Vichai and Aiyawatt Raksriaksor, who own duty free giant King Power, are behind AFI.

The duo became the first owners to be endorsed by the Football League's new examination of potential football club owners when they took a majority stakehold in the club in 2008.

Leicester City vice-chairman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn said: "We are very pleased to now own 100 per cent of Leicester City Football Club. This year has been a tremendous experience and everyone at the club is already putting the foundations together for next season.

"I would like to thank the people of Leicester and Leicestershire for welcoming us in to their club and for showing us their support. We promise to do all we can to improve the club, deliver success and achieve a return to the Premier League."
