TV hairdresser cuts Cube deal
Celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan is set to launch a salon in Birmingham's multimillion-pound Cube development. The star of Channel 4's The Salon has taken a lease on a 5,000 sq ft ground floor unit.
Phelan, originally from Kings Heath, has confirmed he will set up shop in the Cube with canal side views for his new £850,000 hairdressers.
The salon is the latest tenant in the £13m development, which will be owned and operated by Sanguine Hospitality when it opens in autumn this year. It will also feature a Marco Pierre White restaurant on the top floor, four-star Hotel Indigo and a health club and urban spa.
Phelan's salon will comprise 30 hair-styling stations, photographic studio and a hair clinic.
The hairdresser, who shot to fame when he styled David Beckham's hair prior to the 2002 World Cup, will also take an apartment in the development.
He said: "Birmingham is where I was born and bred and, despite running a salon in London's Covent Garden, I have always been looking for the right opportunity to come back to the city. My aim is to bring a high profile salon traditionally found in London to Birmingham for the first time.
"The new salon fits in perfectly with the rest of The Cube development as somewhere people can come to relax and be pampered. It will lead the way for leisure in the entire city. I, for one, will be literally eating, sleeping and living here."
