Brazilian flavour for The Cube

Brazilian restaurant Rodizio Rico has signed up as a tenant at The Cube in Birmingham. The eatery will open its first site outside London in The Cube early next year.

Rodizio Rico has agreed terms on a 7,350 sq ft restaurant, which will open out onto Birmingham’s canalside.

The restaurant, in which waiters offer cuts of meat at diners' tables, will open out the seventh level of Birmingham’s Cube building.

Plans and designs for the 250-seat restaurant are already well underway, said bosses at the restaurant. Fit-out will start at the end of August with the restaurant expected to open in early 2012.

Neil Edginton, director at The Cube, said: "We’re delighted that The Cube has attracted another London operator to Birmingham, continuing the city’s inward investment programme. The canal side unit has proved extremely popular, with many businesses now competing for space, but Rodizio Rico offers something a bit different with the quality and authenticity that we were looking to bring into the building.

"There’s a real buzz here at the moment and this announcement is just the first of a number of exciting announcements in relation to our leisure space. Anticipation in the city is high and The Cube is quickly becoming the vibrant landmark destination that we set out to create."

Mike Nailer, owner of Rodizio Rico, added the company had been "keen to open an outlet in Birmingham for some time".
