RGF tour to visit East Mids
A series of roadshows has been launched to give businesses advice on how to tap into the next round of funding from the government's Regional Growth Fund (RGF). The roadshow is expected to come to the East Midlands on 6 June.
The first event was held in Margate, Kent, yesterday where Lord Heseltine encouraged bidders to compete for a share of £950m.
Lord Heseltine, the chairman of the panel which decides where funds go, spoke about economic growth and the role of the RGF in creating jobs and stimulating growth.
The roadshow is due to arrive in an as yet unnamed location in the East Midlands on 6 June. There will also be events in Preston, York, Newcastle, Dudley and Plymouth.
Lord Heseltine said: "The Regional Growth Fund was exceptionally popular in the first round, and we received many bids that demonstrated strategic thinking on how to create jobs and contribute to local economies.
"I hope businesses and public-private partnerships are inspired to think about innovative and creative ways of making a difference to growth and shaping their economic future, and that we will see results of this thinking when we are assessing bids.
"The roadshows are an excellent opportunity for potential bidders to find out more information about ensuring bids meet the objectives and criteria. I urge all those interested to ask questions, and get as much out of these events as possible."
