Revenue on the rise at Wragge & Co

Birmingham law firm Wragge & Co has reported an increase in annual turnover to £112m in its year-end results. Managing partner Ian Metcalfe said that in terms of economic conditions, "the past couple of years have been the worst I've ever experienced".

The firm said turnover was up 16 per cent on its 2010 result, which hit £96.2m.

Metcalfe said: "Rather than batten down the hatches, we made a number of strategic investments - adding some excellent new people, deepening our sector focus and increasing our international footprint. Although conditions continue to be challenging, these decisions are paying off."

The 2010/11 profit margin and profits per partner figures will be confirmed later this year once the firm's accounts have been audited, said Wragge & Co.

Seven new partners joined the firm in 2010/11, while the healthcare team scooped two awards. The team was presented honours at both the British Legal Awards and the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards.

Senior partner, Quentin Poole, said: "Every part of the firm has contributed to this impressive year-end result. Core areas including corporate, banking & finance, intellectual property, real estate, pensions and energy all delivered strong performances. Our people deserve credit for working hard, staying positive and always providing excellent advice and client service."
