Quartzelec reveals consolidation plans

Electrical engineer Quartzelec has submitted plans to build a 95,000 sq ft facility in Rugby. If approved, the move will keep 140 skilled jobs in the region as Quartzelec plans to consolidate its existing operations in Rugby and Lutterworth.

The engineer has put forward proposals to create a new building on ProLogis Central Park to Rugby Borough Council. As well as combining operations, the new site will provide space for future expansion, said Quartzelec.

Roger Regan, technical director of Quartzelec, said: "This new facility has been designed specifically to accommodate the demands of our business and it will allow us to modernise our high quality electrical machine repair and maintenance business.

"The success of our operation relies on our skilled workforce and on our collaboration with other local companies, so we are very pleased to have found this site at ProLogis Central Park."

Rugby Borough Council is expected to make a decision on the Quartzelec planning application by summer 2011.
