Property funding scheme unveiled for Tyseley
A property assistance programme providing funding to new and existing businesses in Tyseley has been launched. Birmingham City Council has estimated the scheme will help safeguard and create more than 200 jobs in the region.
Eligible businesses in the district will be allocated grants of 50 per cent of the maximum costs, up to £100,000.
Grants will be available through the Tyseley property assistance programme to help businesses fund improvements to their premises, access and infrastructure.
The programme has been funded with £1.1m from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), investment from Birmingham City Council and local business investment of more than £900,000.
Birmingham City Council said the scheme was part of its wider aspiration to develop Tyseley as an environmental enterprise district.
Waheed Nazir, director of planning and regeneration at Birmingham City Council, said: "Tyseley remains a significant part of the industrial and environment infrastructure of Birmingham.
"Providing financial support to existing businesses, attracting new ones and developing the environment for growth in an environmentally sustainable way is crucial to the regeneration of Tyseley and in turn Birmingham.
"It is only by investing in programmes such as this that we can begin to achieve the aims of a Low Carbon Enterprise District status for Tyseley. We look forward to working with local businesses to deliver this programme."
