G4S swoops for Guidance Monitoring

Guidance Monitoring, based in Leicester, has been acquired by G4S Regional Management. It was purchased as part of a deal for holding company Broomco. Guidance supplies offender monitoring technology to governments across the world.

G4S Regional Management, based in Crawley, is a subsidiary of secure solutions group G4S.

Guidance Monitoring was acquired from Malcolm Roberts, David Parry, John Potter, Russell Miles, Comvest Limited and a number of employees of Guidance Monitoring. It has gross assets of £10m.

Guidance Monitoring designs and manufactures electronic monitoring technologies, including hardware and software used for offender monitoring and tracking.

David Taylor-Smith, regional chief executive officer at G4S UK & Africa, said: "We are very pleased to welcome the Guidance Monitoring team to G4S as we have used their technology in our electronic offender management solution for over ten years. We believe their market-leading technology provides the best platform for future global expansion in the offender monitoring marketplace and we look forward to working with them to build this business in the UK and overseas."
