Looking for that really unique piece of royal wedding memorabilia? Then get yourself down to Breaston. Car dealership Mark Campbell Motors will be paying honour to the royal couple by holding a family-orientated open weekend on Saturday (30 April) and Sunday (1 May).

An avid royal fan and owner of the established, family-run dealership and garage, Mark Campbell has decided to not only invite the public to celebrate the royal wedding in style, but even went so far as to commission his own bespoke commemorative mug to provide visitors with a lasting reminder of the historic event. The design, created by award-winning Derbyshire artist and illustrator, Debra Yates, features a motoring-themed coat of arms with a caricature pencil drawing within. Not something you’ll be able to pick up in John Lewis, we bet.

Marathon man

Well done to Andy Raynor, the chief executive of RSM Tenon, who ran in the London Marathon with a time of 3 hours 53 minutes, raising funds for The Ear Foundation, a Nottingham based charity.

Andy took part in the gruelling marathon raising more than £3,000 for his chosen charity.

The Ear Foundation is a charity founded by Nottingham surgeon Gerry O’Donoghue and Barry McCormick, audiological scientist, in 1989. It was established as a charity funding and providing cochlear implants for deaf children.

Andy said: "I'd like to thank The Ear Foundation for all the support the staff gave me. It's typical of an organisation that really cares and I've been delighted to contribute in return. Wait a few days before you ask me if I would do it again.

"Of course it is a challenge, and yes it hurts, but if you've been trying to get a time under 4 hours, like I have, for the last 10 years or so, finally achieving it is more than enough of a painkiller. An ambition fulfilled, one I thought I'd never do - and now I'm wondering how fast I could do it in if I tried even harder."

Hello, goodbye

Those fond of slightly eccentric football managers will have no doubt thrilled at the sight of Martin "Mad Dog" Allen rocking up at Notts County lately, armed with a bag full of bizarre press statements.

Among the gems so far is our particular favourite: "Good morning, I’ve spoken with Lewis Gobern and agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect. I haven’t yet met him or seen him as he hasn’t had to come in to training. So I wish him the best of luck. Regards, Martin."

Tell it how it is, Martin. Tell it how it is…
