Stoke-on-Trent-based Allports has secured a contract worth £1m to supply vehicles for retailer Pets at Home. The logistics solutions supplier will deliver ten vehicles to the company.

The Renault Premium tractor units will be supplied to logistics specialist Downton Distribution, for use in its national distribution fleet for Pets at Home.

Allports, which also has a site in Lichfield, is supplying the vehicles with a three-year full repair and maintenance agreement.

Mark Sanders, Allports' managing director, said: "We’re delighted to be working with Downtons. It’s a substantial contract win and really shows the strength of our offering. As well as the vehicles and maintenance agreement, we will be supplying driver training and an opti-fuel manager package, which provides detailed information on all the aspects of vehicle and driver performance, ensuring cost-effective operation throughout the contract's term."

Steve Travis, contracts manager for Downtons, said Allports was contracted to the deal because of the vehicles' "excellent fuel consumption, reliability in operation and the local-partnership we’ve developed".
