Social enterprise centre gets go-ahead
Up to 100 apprenticeship places will be created after the green light was given for the construction of a new social enterprise training centre. The £500,000 facility in Newcastle-under-Lyme will be run by social enterprise training provider PM Training.
PM Training – part of the Aspire Group – plans to develop part of the existing Aspire Housing depot in Chesterton. The company said ten new jobs could be created with the move.
Work is due to start in June and the new site is expected to open in September.
The centre will feature workshops, training areas, classrooms and offices and will aim to help young people develop essential skills in the construction and housing sectors.
The redevelopment project is being part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which is providing £275,000.
PM Training’s existing base on College Road, Shelton, will continue to provide training and apprenticeship courses in engineering, business administration and construction.
