Cannock housing scheme approved
Plans to build 75 houses in Cannock have been given the green light. Birmingham-based St Modwen will demolish the former Coal Board buildings on the 40,000 sq ft Rumer Hill site to make way for the development.
Cannock Chase District Council approved the development for eight acres of land off Rumer Hill Road.
The location is a former coal mining site which housed the Mid Cannock Colliery.
Mike Timmins, senior planning surveyor for St Modwen, said: "Our plans for Rumer Hill will see this area of Cannock transformed into a sustainable new residential community. A total of 75 new homes will provide a choice of quality properties for local buyers, and the design and specification of the homes will set a new benchmark for the town.
"We have been working closely with the businesses which occupy the existing industrial/office units on the site to assist them in relocating before we undertake a programme of remediation to prepare the site ahead of the construction of the new homes."
